Boost Your Business: The Impact Of Outsourcing
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the countless tasks and responsibilities piling up in your business? It might be time to harness the power of outsourcing and building a great team. In ‘Build Your Digital Community’ Episode 4 with Janette Downie, co-founder of digital marketing agency Space Creatorz, we discuss the power of hiring and outsourcing to free up your valuable time and help your business reach new heights.
Putting Your Team First
While most agencies pride themselves on being client-first, Space Creatorz focuses their energy from the inside out - on their team. Instead of hiring people to fit job descriptions, they focus on hiring people who love what they are doing and go from there. They believe that by building their team up and giving them the opportunities to do things that they are great at or want to explore, results in a better final product AND happy clients.
Outsourcing To Grow Your Business
As business owners, we can have such reluctance to outsource. However, we also forget that when we do outsource, we create space for the things we actually find joy in doing. Making this time allows you to focus on your zone of genius and excel at your talents versus getting bogged down by the endless responsibilities of an entrepreneur.
Working beyond your capacity ultimately isn’t sustainable. Eventually, you will burn out or drop the ball, resulting in things going wrong or even the loss of clients. Just because you can do something doesn’t mean that you should.
The Benefit of Second Perspectives & Relationships
Outsourcing can offer you a multitude of wonderful benefits, one of which is the access to different perspectives. Being open to these new perspectives can create an amazing opportunity for business growth.
Think of the people you outsource to less as service providers and more as partners in your business. It can go further than asking: can we work together or can we help each other? If you develop good relationships with these people, they will become your community and your confidants; a priceless asset to have on the journey of owning a business. Lean on each other, learn from each other, and pour into each other.
Community Over Competition
You can learn a multitude of things by working closely with peers in similar businesses to your own. Instead of seeing these people as a threat to your own business, see them as an opportunity to learn and grow.
These relationships can change the way you work in such a positive way. If you remain closed off to these chances, you may find yourself making the same mistakes, approaching things in the same way, and grinding the same gears. Growth isn’t possible if you stick to the same process over a long period of time. Keep your eyes open to what’s possible - to better solutions, to easier ways of doing things, to new programs that can help you, and more.
Things to Consider Before You Outsource
Before you consider outsourcing, you need to consider where you are at from a growth and financial perspective in your business:
Ask yourself: Do I have enough work to outsource? Am I at my current capacity? Am I burning out? If the answer is yes, determine what your budget is to seek out some help.
Then, determine what it is that you love doing in your business the most. Write them down. After this, create a list of items you don’t enjoy doing as much - the things that are bogging you down or burning you out.
Start to think about who could help you with these things. It could be a VA, or it could be someone in your network you could lean on.
Take your time to figure out what actually you need before making a final decision and investment.
How To Build Your Community
Find community within your space and your niche. It could be entrepreneurs in a more general scene, or it could be more specific to what you do. For example, if you’re an agency owner, make connections with other agency owners.
You can engage with these people IRL or online. People often underestimate the internet’s ability to build valuable relationships and communities that can change your life and business forever. Having a crew of people around you that you can talk to and go to when times are hard is invaluable. It is what will keep you going!
