In this solo episode of “Build Your Own Digital Community”, Kristina discusses the topic of email marketing. She had listened to a podcast that explored this topic called, ”Fast Foundations”.  In that episode, they mentioned that their goal was to get a hundred thousand email subscribers.

This led Kristina to think that people don’t really know the value of email listing and how crucial it can be for long term success. In this podcast, she talks about how to use social media to grow your email list so that you are able to get exactly what you want out of your email marketing.

Find Your Target Audience

Kristina states that email lists are important because they allow people to choose you. You want to find a way to provide value to your audience, while keeping it relatively easy for you. You can provide people on your email list with weekly updates and if they respond positively, your audience may refer you to other people that they know.

Another benefit of this is that it allows you to connect with people who are actually interested in your business, your product/service, or you as a person. There is no algorithm involved; they are choosing you as long as you are providing them with value. Starting an email list can be hard, and it may take time for your list to grow.

Kristina explains that you have to put in a great deal of effort to get people to join your list. She also recommends that you do not use an expensive email platform (such as Mailchimp) to do this, as they will penalize you for your growth and you will end up paying more in the long run.

Kristina states that there are three hundred and six billion emails sent every single day. When people choose you, it is important for you to ensure that the emails you are sending them are of high value. She adds on to this by saying that 72% of customers prefer email as their main communication channel for business.

Your audience wants to hear from you via email! Social media can be used as a tool to successfully grow your email list. Ask followers to join via social media and create a form on your website that allows them to join your list and sign up for updates. Use your social media to promote it and encourage your clients to join. If they have already joined, ask them to share your posts so that you can grow even further!

Communicate Consistently

It is important to maintain consistency with your emails. If you start being inconsistent with your messaging, you may lose client interest. Your email list should be prioritized as you want to show recipients that they are a part of your community, and that you feed them first when it comes to your information and updates.

If you promise your recipients that they’ll be the first to know about exciting news, you must keep that promise. If there is no trust between your clients and yourself, then there is no relationship.

When it comes to sending clients information, send them the same content frequently. People don’t pay as much attention as you may think. They may not look at it clearly the first time they receive it.

Kristina wraps up the episode by stating that email lists convert greatly to social media. It’s all about focusing on the community, and those that are actually interested in you and your business
