Your personal brand is the unique identity that you get to project to the world. Whether you are brick and mortar or a digital brand, an online presence can also be a powerful tool for building trust, credibility, and loyalty among your community and target audience. In ‘Build Your Digital Community’ Episode 71, our host Kristina shares why having a personal brand is so vital to the success of your business.

The Social Snippet itself was born out of Kristina’s own past brand as a personal development coach. Her social media presence not only acted as her number one source for lead generation, but also allowed her to build a digital community of like-minded folks. When The Social Snippet launched in 2021, the loyalty for Kristina was already there, allowing the brand to grow swiftly.

Separating Business From Personal

No matter what your business is, you should always have an account for your business. Even if you're not ready to post yet, or you're still in the launch phase, remember to secure your handles. What we are discussing today is separate from your business's social media account. It is more personal.

Show Up As Yourself

What we often see in our experience in the social media industry is a reluctance to show up authentically. Many business owners have no problem talking about their products, their services, or their crafts. However, they have a huge problem showing up to talk about themselves. They can be worried about how it may come across, or they might be self conscious about doing that. But what's so powerful is that people actually do want us to show up as ourselves, as it gives them the permission to do the same.

Here’s the reality: no one cares about you as much as you think they care about you. No one is sitting at home judging you on your pivot or niche change. We have this perception that people are always talking about us, but no one who's doing more than you is talking about you.

Let People Get To Know, Like, and Trust You

People buy from people. We love and look up to certain influencers because they remind us of ourselves. The things that bring you closer to people often have nothing to do with your business.

Tell people what you’re reading, what products you’re enjoying, or where you’re going. If you’re comfortable, tell stories about your family or your pets. People love to be a part of it. The lifestyle of being an entrepreneur isn’t average and people enjoy seeing behind the scenes.

What we ultimately want to focus on building is that know, like and trust with our audience that is outside of the niche or business sector we're currently in. You have no idea what the future holds for you and a personal brand can help you pivot and grow.

How A Personal Brand Supports Our Work

When we prioritize our community and our relationships on our personal social media profiles, it can actually supersede and drive our work. There is something so special about people knowing your story.

When you step into your fullest self and share what you're up to, what businesses you’re working with, and where you’re going, it gives the opportunity for collaboration in your business that you may not be expecting. You have no idea who people know. When you show up to your fullest extent, people are going to be inspired by you and they will talk about you in rooms you're not even in. A strong personal brand allows you to be top of mind for people when they're confronted with whatever the problem is that you solve.

Where To Start

If you've been on the fence about making a personal Instagram page, we would encourage you to dive in and ask your audience what they want to see from you.

We challenge you to show up this week, whether it’s sharing your win of the week, the behind the scenes of your business, or something that is a bit more personal to forge that connection with folks, and notice the response you get back.

Developing a strong personal brand is an essential part of business success in our digital world. With so many competitors vying for attention in today's crowded marketplace, establishing a unique and memor
